Would you like to be part of a public policy team focused on increasing awareness and driving the adoption of cloud computing amongst enterprises, the public sector, and regulated industry segments in India? The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Policy team is at the forefront of helping customers maximize the benefits of cloud computing by addressing regulatory and political blockers to cloud adoption, and is looking for an individual to help drive our engagements among the Central and State Government.
Amazon Internet Services Pvt. Ltd (AISPL) is looking for a talented individual to develop and execute advocacy strategies, and represent AISPL before policymakers in India. The successful candidate will proactively advance engagements with key policymakers, IT decision-makers and executives in the Central and State Government and other relevant organizations, and help prioritize international, national, public policy issues impacting AWS and the broader regulatory environment for cloud computing. They will address policy risks to the business as well as advance strategic business opportunities and initiatives in key industry segments, and will need to become familiar with all aspects of AWS’ business and interface directly with business units across the country. This role will require the candidate to undertake travel to different States across India, in order to conceptualize and develop partnerships with Government agencies.
This individual will report to the India Public Sector Public Policy lead in AISPL. Key areas of responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively and transparently with the business units to ensure alignment between public policy goals and core business objectives
• Advance the company’s policy positions directly and through industry associations to enable a transparent and technology-friendly regulatory environment for cloud computing in India among Central and State Government
• Analyze procurement and technology policy to craft and effectively deliver a coordinated advocacy engagement strategy to catalyze sustainable growth for the business in diverse areas.
• Work with business teams to structure partnerships with government
• Facilitate high-level meetings between AISPL executives and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, industry associations (including State chapters) and alliance partners to promote AISPL’s advocacy positions.
• Coordinate and draft talking points for company representatives in conferences, panels, roundtables, etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant discipline (e.g., Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Engineering, Sciences etc.).
• 8+ years of experience including representing a large company or association before government policymakers, and significant experience running public policy and/or public sector policy efforts across different domains that impact ease of doing business and evolving technology policy landscape
• Proficiency in English and Hindi or another Indian language is necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience of working with State Government to conceptualize and build partnerships, and facilitate proof of concept projects is preferred.
• Previous experience in the information technology-related (IT) sector, with an understanding of eGovernance programs and associated IT-related policies pertaining to issues such as IT procurement, ease of doing business etc.
• Significant experience in working with State Governments would be preferred
• Inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
• Previous experience working with trade associations; leadership experience in a trade association is an asset
• Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, political and educational institution levels
• Maintains the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity, with a well-respected professional reputation in the industry
• Self-starter with a proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization and cultures as well as working independently
• Keen political acumen and decision-making skills even in ambiguous situations, including the ability to balance different perspectives and inputs, and exercise flexibility and good judgment
