Job description
Ciena managed services requires a junior security analystThis is a fulltime intermediate role that will ensure day-to-day operations of ciena managed services security information and event management (siem) solution.
The junior security analyst will receive and respond to alerts from the siem and evaluate alerts for severity and applicability, in addition to:
Perform hands-on device management, including cloud, security hardening, patch management and troubleshooting for various security devices forming the managed security solution, such as firewalls, vpn devices, and other operating systems.
Understand the diverse products and managed services that ciena offers to its client base and respond to the unique operational and contractual performance requirements of the client.
Have a familiarity with both technical and operational network security best practices and hands-on experience in a variety of technology platforms and security services that ciena supports.
Be able to identify and compare technological capabilities that are required to support a particular security service and identify technological gaps where more development is needed.
Key functions:
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
Monitors, reviews, and interprets security alerts and notifications and provides initial response, analysis, and incident management in support of ciena and managed customers.
Assesses and establishes mitigation steps to ensure appropriate incident treatment and informs both customer and management as appropriate.
Have experience with a variety of operating systems, cloud infrastructure and security devices such as unix/linux, windows server, vpns, firewalls.
Configures and maintains security devices and appliances as well as provides general knowledge and recommendations for security best practices to customers and management, as required.
Works with ciena service partners to jointly engineer and turn up new services, as required.
Reviews, maintains, and updates security operations processes and procedures.
Reviews, maintains, and updates network diagrams and customer facing reports.
Adheres to strict security policies and procedures when dealing with all levels of customer and management requests.
Research emergent trends in cyber threat and vulnerability landscapes, and stays current on commonly accepted tools, techniques and procedures within the information security, incident response, and disaster recovery fields.
Experience:
Completion of university or college program in computer network systems and/or 4 years of equivalent industry experience in the information systems field.
2+ years of experience in system and cloud administration (aws), with some experience in network security, computer security incident response, and backups, archiving and recovery.
Knowledge of security operational policies, procedures, and techniques.
Proficiency in python or other scripting languages.
Understanding of mitigation safeguards and responses at the systems, network, and application level (vpn, firewalls, intrusion detection, server hardening, sso, encryption technologies).
Demonstrated experience implementing security solutions including authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit capabilities as part of an overall system design.
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics.
Working knowledge in vulnerability management and remediation (tenable or qualys).
Understanding of pci, iso 27001, itil, and/or other compliance frameworks would be an asset.
Security designation such as associate of isc2 – cissp or ccsp, ceh, security+, or sans/gcia would be an asset.
