The sr database administrator provides reliable, cost-effective, & secure enterprise-wide support for business critical production & non-production databasesS/he is responsible for the stds & design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, security administration, parameter configuration, logical & physical database design based on requirementsS/he optimizes database access & allocates resources for optimum configuration, performance, & cost.
Principal accountabilities:
Acts as the primary liaison for customers communicating with the database administration groupEnsures customer satisfaction by consistently using database administration resources to meet published slasCreates release plan for data implementation and retention.
Builds and tests data propagation across the organization based on data capture, data processing, reporting and analytics, data backup and recovery, data access/conflict resolution and data integrity needs while minimizing redundancyCreates release plan for integration artifacts.
Consults with business area management regarding application alternatives, performance, security, software usage, capacity planning, and backup proceduresDetermines the optimal way to organize data for a given applicationRecommends reusable components to reduce design and delivery time and achieve economy of scale.
Defines and documents an enterprise data model to support both oltp and olap.
Implements database changes resulting from the ticketing system while maintaining database standards for security, naming, and complexityInvolved in the coordination, routing, communication, & escalation of all database work stemming from the database work order system.
Maintains storage capacity management including data classification, storage tiering, raid, clustering, virtualization, etc.
Performs database administration tasks as necessary to maintain 100% uptime, consistent performance, and 50% headroomDetermines the type and quantity of data, who will access it, and how.
Provides on-boarding support, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to new employees and/or consultants, both off-shore and local.
Skills & software requirements:
Ms sal dba – proficient in sqlserver management studio, in idera, scom, dmp, window clustering, log shipping, srdf, mirroring, perfmon, and sql profiler
Oracle dba – proficient in oracle rac, asm, oem, rman, datapump, goldengate/ dataguard, awr, ash, and linux; experienced with alternate db technologies, storage level replication, oracle ldap, fcf, fan, ons, scan, familiar in oracle exadata, dcli, patch manager, sundiag, ilomm cellcli, experienced in shell scripting.
