Your field of responsibility
To advice, supervise and coordinate on local legal and regulatory issues, coordinate the general counsel (“gc”) activities, be an advisor to colleagues, ensure legal risks are appropriately managed for india, each in partnership with the divisional gc teams as required, and in collaboration with the business partners.
Provide legal support to india franchise of credit suisse groupRegulatory licenses currently under coverage will include portfolio management services, investment advisory, mutual fund distributor, stock broking, clearing member, bank branch, depository participant, and non-banking finance companyKey responsibilities will inter alia include:
Being a key and integral partner and strategic advisor to cs india franchise
Providing timely legal and regulatory advice to all licenses and business divisions of cs india franchise including but not limited to the private banking lending and wealth management activities
Advising on, reviewing and negotiating financing transactions entered into by the business divisions of cs india franchise
Taking informed decisions relating to business and to stand by such decisions and exercising and discharging appropriate challenges and control responsibilities
Providing legal and strategic advice on new business projects (e.gPb india reset project) and other key projects for india
Closely collaborating with regional gc teams and participating in regional gc calls / meetings
Providing legal support to private banking (portfolio management services, investment advisory, mutual fund distributor, bank branch, depository participant, and non-banking finance company), equities (cash equities, derivatives, clearing member, dma), apac financing group (afg), global markets (gm), and investment banking (ib) business divisions
Providing quality legal advice and escalating issues from time to time and identifying potential risks to the franchise on various matters including financing transactions
Monitoring key regulatory legal and market developments and themes with potential impact on the business and developing strong strategic advisor relationship with business partners
Maintaining relationships with key partner law firms for better pricing and delivery on timely manner
Collaborating with regional teams and focussing on delivering results on issues in a timely and efficient manner
Providing general corporate legal support to all shared services departments e.gSupply vendor management, cres, hr, it, etc.

Your skills and experience
To excel in this role, you should possess below:
Outstanding experience in private banking and wealth management legal advice and service, structured lending and extensive knowledge of general banking and finance laws and exchange control laws of india
Equivalent work experience in a leading law firm and/or as an in-house counsel at a leading financial institution
Proven working knowledge of and broad familiarity with the financial industry and the applicable legal/regulatory regime in india
Experience in leading and managing a team
Proficiency in english and an outstanding drafting ability
Proficiency to work effectively and collaboratively with teams and the business
Outstanding interpersonal skills, a positive `can-do` attitude and can work under deadlines and can make balanced decisions
Strong problem solving skills, strive to seek results with an accurate judgment and a control mind-set whilst being a proactive learner
Flexibility to prioritize tasks while grasping the wider picture as well as details
Ambitious, hardworking who can work on own initiative and deliver on time under pressure with integrity, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
