Company federal reserve bank of minneapolis the center for indian country development (cicd) is a national research and policy institute for the federal reserve system dedicated to increasing the economic inclusion and long-term prosperity of indian countryHeadquartered out of the federal reserve bank of minneapolis, cicd conducts applied research and convenes tribal leaders, practitioners, and policymakers to inform public policy on issues that influence the economic outcomes of indian countryResearch and policy efforts focus primarily on tribal enterprise diversification, small business access to capital, tribal taxation, economic infrastructure, and tribal financing mechanismsThis position qualifies for a hybrid working arrangement that supports remote work but requires regular on-site attendanceThe federal reserve bank of minneapolis is seeking a senior project manager/project director for indian country policy to support the policy work of the cicdThe senior project manager/project director will lead public policy efforts that advance the cicd’s objectivesThe incumbent will effectively communicate with and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders throughout indian country, with national partners, and with key policymakersWe are looking for an individual who believes in the importance of good policy backed by credible research with findings that are clearly communicated in a variety of formats to a broad audience of stakeholdersThe successful candidate will have excellent communication and writing skills, strong organizational and time management skills, and experience informing public policyThis person must possess a strong commitment to public service and the values of the federal reserve systemResponsibilities:
Engages in thought leadership with a multidisciplinary team to drive cicd policy engagement.
Identifies and advances public policy solutions to challenges facing indian country economic development.
Briefs policymakers on issues within their portfolio as needed.
Contributes to and produces written memos, reports, and analyses for publication on the bank website and other venues.
Translates research findings into written products and talking points in order to reach broad audiences.
Supports ad hoc requests for policy support, prepares fact sheets, and provides technical assistance to external partners.
Makes presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Connects the bank’s applied research to the needs of practitioners to advance ideas and solutions.
Plans, coordinates, and facilitates meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars.
Provides project management on public policy areas that affect indian country and cicd’s objectives.
Manages projects with clearly stated goals and objectives, timelines for implementation, and metrics for success.
Manages projects and relationships in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Maintains effective relationships with reserve bank peers and management as well as key external constituents (e.g., think tanks, universities, government agencies, nonprofits, business and community leaders, financial institutions, educators, and other related organizations etc.).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree requiredMaster’s degree in related field (social sciences, native american studies, business administration, public administration/policy, economics) preferred.
At least four years of relevant professional experience for the senior project manager role or six years of relevant professional experience for the project director role.
Experience working on indian country-related issues.
Ability to engage in thought leadership with a multidisciplinary team to drive cicd policy engagement
Proven ability to manage and adapt to multiple concurrent projects, shifting priorities, and informational needs.
High level of attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work without extensive oversight
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and meet tight and multiple deadlines
Ability to manage projects with clearly stated goals, objectives, timelines, and meet metrics for success
Strong interpersonal skills and deep experience maintaining effective and productive relationships with internal colleagues and external partners and stakeholders.
Advanced writing skills with the ability to turn complex topics into compelling and accessible language.
Demonstrated experience in presenting and communicating policy and research findings to a broad audience of stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
Experience working on issues related to tribal economic development.
Experience working in a legislative body or government agency.
Experience with policy analysis and connecting applied research and public policy.
