Role title: project manager india/uk together
Client – british council
Tenure: fixed term contract for a tenure of 10 months.
Location: delhi, mumbai, chennai and kolkata.
The role will be on the third party payroll i.eOrcapod services
India/uk together, a season of culture is a year-long celebration of the long-standing relationship between india and the ukCelebrating india’s 75th independence anniversary, the season will see a vast programme of creative collaboration, education and cultural exchange take place online and in cities across both countries.
Working with a number of partners and institutions in the field of arts, education and english, the british council is developing a programme of cultural activity which will bring together people in both countries, raise awareness around key real world issues, and strengthen and celebrate the uk and india’s educational and cultural ties.
As project manager, india/uk together you will support the delivery of arts projects as part of the india-uk together season of culture, working with artists and organisations in the uk and india to ensure that project outcomes are achievedThe post holders(s) will provide on-the-ground support for project delivery in india, including planning, logistics, budget management, monitoring and evaluation.

Main accountabilities

Main accountabilities include:
Relationships and stakeholders
Provide a single point of contact for india-based arts partners
Build and maintain effective relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure high quality project delivery
Provide logistical, programming and strategic support for a range of arts activities in india, for example the international publisher’s fellowship study visit (february 2023) and the india literature festival sector/ festival season (december 2022 – march 2023)
Provide other ad-hoc support to the season of culture team in india as necessary
Project management
Assume financial management and monitoring of projects, including supporting external partners to submit financial reports to the british council which are timely and high quality
Secure appropriate internal and external communications support for arts projects
Write communications copy, identifying key messages in both india and the uk
Lead on the collection of data and data entry as part of the british council’s internal monitoring and evaluation framework
Cultivate and model a compliance culture to ensure that operational procedures are met, risk is managed and programmes meet oda criteria and financial deadlines
Support with final monitoring and evaluation reporting internally and externally
Ensure risk register and other project management documents are updated on a regular basis
Support with trouble shooting, and appropriate escalation, for any issues with delivery
Ensure coordination of events across british council arts, education and english including guest lists and invitations with partners and across british council and british high commission; and where appropriate relevant government of india stakeholders and sponsors
Sector/subject expertise
Provide expert advice and support to external partners to ensure high quality programme content in major arts projects based on a genuine understanding of the key british council arts priorities and best practice within the arts sector within india
Apply own knowledge of the india arts and creative industries sector to support the delivery of arts projects that meet the specific needs of the country while also providing value to uk arts and creative industry organisations.
Leadership and management
Identify opportunities externally and across other british council departments for legacy work – e.gAwareness, education, policy etc.
