Duties Basic Function of the Position: This position is located in the Overseas Building Operations (OBO) office, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. Under the supervision of the Construction Manager, the Construction Engineer is responsible for managing the operations of the OBO New Delhi office in accordance with the construction contract cost and schedule. The incumbent is required to prepare reports and other control documentation. S/he will inspect ongoing construction activities to ascertain that the implementation of the contractors and sub-contractor construction schedule is managed effectively. The Construction Engineer shall be capable of working independently and shall provide professional construction control expertise in support of OBO project oversite responsibilities. The incumbent will perform other duties as assigned by the agency.
Note: This is a limited-term appointment, all positions with the Office of Building Operations (OBO) office are project based positions and the continuity of these positions will depend on funds availability and OBO project completion. The incumbent should be flexible to work on evenings, weekends, early mornings, U.S. and Indian holidays, as per requirement.

EXPERIENCE: The position requires five years of experience working as a project engineer/engineer at a manufacturing plant, major resort, hospital, office complex, or a large university/school system performing construction management, including one year of management and supervisory experience within this time frame.

The position requires completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

COVID-19 Requirements for Eligible Family Members
As required by Executive Order 14043, Eligible Family Members who will be employed on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Temporary Appointment (TEMP) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee’s duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law.
