The Vikaasa Coalition (India2022) is one of the identified platforms to scope and plan the delivery of Shell’s Energy Transition plan for India. This coalition, comprised of different companies and Shell as the founding partner, works through a set of pre-defined Impact Tracks – Energise, Waste to Value, Sustainable Mining and Healthcare.
As sponsoring partner of the Energise Impact Track, our team of catalyst/advisors have made a significant progress in driving a portfolio of projects in space of energy access, biofuels, de-carbonization of large industrial and commercial establishments, and incubating new opportunities in areas such as Hydrogen, CCUS, Commercial fleets, Plastic circularity and Cold chain.
In this role, you will be joining a team involved with incubating new business development projects, to ensure a healthy funnel to business opportunities for Shell India.
What’s the role?
As Catalyst, you will develop new future-fit business opportunities and/or strategies to scale up existing future-fit business activities, through collaborative projects, under the guidance of Project BOM or Program manager
Further accountabilities are as follows:
Lead or support a set of 3-5 early-stage opportunities, which may be consulting/research assignments, Shell deals or new business ideas being incubated across teams or through consultants & external partners.
The role would involve going through the full incubation cycle of business development from Explore- Create- Refine- Commercialize- Secure phase (ORS parallel: Identify>Assess>Select>Define>Execute>Operate), using Strategic Problem-Solving tools and giving a tangible shape to projects.
Manage internal Shell stakeholders at various levels, and work with internal Shell business and function teams for involvement needed in managing delivery of the project portfolio for the entrusted themes (DS, IG, New Energies, T&S Legal, C&P, GR, ER, P&T (Projects), Finance).
Coordinate with focals from other partner organizations through the Vikaasa platform to execute common projects, of strategic importance through external consultants.
Shaping up policy for Energy transition in India, to support project/business development for Shell.
Hands on working with financial models and strategy formulation for new ideas/ existing global solutions that are expected to be launched in India.
Work closely with Policy & Advocacy teams for inputs for policy in own area of work.
Build constructive and trusting relationships with a broad array of creative and energetic personalities both within and external to Shell.
Be simultaneously strategic in purpose and detail oriented with respect to day-to-day operations.
Able to distil the essential elements from often ambiguous situations.
Clearly track and monitor progress with respect to concept development.
Maintain focus on own personal development during year and identify links to own career goals to ensure that right skills are picked up during this year.
Support multiple parallel projects interfacing with senior stakeholders and working teams.
What we need from you?
Deep understanding of Shell’s vision for India as well as focus areas for innovation in Shell.
Ease in working with ambiguity and able to drive at outcomes.
Exposure to any of the impact track focus areas i.e., Biofuels, energy access/renewable energy, waste to fuels, carbon capture, hydrogen, etc.
Able to independently lead conversations & projects and build working relationships with varied stakeholders & teams, with a clear focus on delivery.
Previous experience in other techno-commercial/commercial roles, however, may not be for entire career duration.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability, technical writing and communication skills
Prior experience or competencies in Innovation processes
Career interest in techno commercial roles across business lines including Business Development, Social Performance, Strategy etc.
Opportunity Identification – An ability to understand and quickly grasp the critical elements of wide-ranging, out-of-the-ordinary technical and business proposals in depth.
Commercial Acumen – Ability to understand the commercial opportunity and identify how Shell could generate value from the proposition.
Strategic thinking – A high capacity mind capable of understanding complex and sometimes counterintuitive business strategies and link this to current and emerging technical and business challenges in the energy industry.
Technology and Innovation fundamentals – Conversant in broad fields of the fundamental sciences being knowledgeable and experienced in the theory and best practices of corporate innovation.
Decision making – Ability to make quick & firm decisions even with limited and ambiguous information.
