Job summary
Do you have consulting leadership experience deploying digital, data, technology strategy and execution within Fortune 500 enterprise organisation? Have you built and led successful consulting practices? Can you build, lead and influence practice managers and consultants in a technical specialty team to deliver these new capabilities on the AWS platform to our enterprise customers?
AWS Professional Services is looking for a Senior Practice Manager with a successful record of leading large enterprise customers through a variety of transformative projects involving application modernisation, cloud migration, IT strategy, distributed architecture, and hybrid cloud operations. We’re looking for an experienced leader to help us build and lead a team of AWS Professional Services consultants who develop and execute strategies for various phases of large scale migrations for customers rapidly moving large numbers of applications onto AWS. This individual will need to have a strong combination of technical and delivery experience, coaching and leadership skills, and an ability to learn fast in a fast paced environment. They will be expected to collaborate with many AWS engineering teams to introduce and refine our platform web services for large enterprises and will harvest, package and publish best practices into repeatable offerings in each technical specialty to accelerate our customers transition to a cloud based IT model using AWS.
Key job responsibilities
Deliver value – lead high quality delivery of a variety of deeply technical engagements with partners and enterprise customers enabling breakthrough business outcomes for our customers.
Build and lead great teams – attract top technical talent to build high performing teams of consultants with superior technical depth, and outstanding customer relationship skills, and a career focus on a specific technical specialty. Assemble and develop the very best in the world in each specialty.
Develop partnerships – proactively develop industry solution maps for each technical specialty and engage the leading solution and service providers for each. Drive collaboration and integration between multiple partners to deliver comprehensive solutions for large enterprises.
Learn and teach – build small teams with single threaded leaders in each technical specialty area. Work with them to learn the newest platform services very quickly. Support them in harvesting and publishing best practices to broader field and partner teams. Also, guide them to engage individual project teams and teach the implementation processes and skills related to their technical specialty.
Engage other Specialty Practice teams – Engage and create cohesiveness and strategy with other Specialty Practice teams to maximize synergies which will drive breakthrough business outcomes for customers.
Curate reusable assets – lead your AWS team in the assembly and rollout of packaged offers designed to optimize customer impact, leveraging field experiences and outcomes.
Be a customer advocate – Work with AWS engineering service teams to convey deep technical requirements from partners and customers as input to AWS technology roadmaps.
About the team
The Global Competency (GCC) team provides direct to customer, back office and packaged delivery consulting services to customers remotely from a centralized location. Our consultants are builders and deliver projects, technical workshops, and lead implementation projects with customers around the globe. These professional services engagements focus on customer solutions such as, web applications, enterprise applications, high performance computing, batch processing, big data, archiving, disaster recovery, migration, security risk and compliance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

20+ years of Consulting practice leadership experience having built and managed teams of highly skilled technical consultants

Outstanding customer stakeholder management, delivery experience and collaboration skills, including delivery of T&M and Fixed price engagements

Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges

Deep understanding of cloud native application architectures

Deep understanding of large-scale cloud migration methodologies and challenges
-
Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
-
BS level technical degree required or equivalent experience; Computer Science or Math background preferred; MS degree desired;

This is a customer facing role. You will be required to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Visible IT Industry thought leadership on relevant topics related to cloud-based enterprise IT

Experience using AWS platform services in distributed environments with Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP etc.

Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman) and identifying the relationships between business services, information, applications and global infrastructure assets

Enterprise IT management frameworks (e.g. COBIT, ITIL)

Designing, building, and operating enterprise scale IT processes and infrastructures
-
Familiarity with compliance & security standards including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST
-
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum or Kanban methodologies
-
AWS/Cloud Certifications.
