Function Description:
American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) offers powerful backing and support that helps companies of all sizes gain financial savings, control, and efficiency. We provide a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.
The Commercial Onboarding Services (COS) team plays a critical role in delivering best in class revenue empowering services across the customer lifecycle. Our vision is to drive customer success throughout the pre-sales, onboarding, and payment phases. In addition, the Operational Excellence (OE) team supports the core operational risk functions including ensuring priorities are executed in a manner consistent with internal policy as well as external / regulatory expectations while enabling business growth, achieving superior customer experience, driving risk mitigation as well as operational efficiencies.
Purpose of the Role:
The Analyst- Planning & Operations is responsible to manage and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting including but not limited to operational expense tracking, reconciliation, accruals and calendarization), financial modeling, analytics, and insights. Colleague will support critical business priorities and team portfolio performance tracking such as scorecards, dashboards & other reporting. Support development of robust presentations and talking points for leadership to be received by audiences of all levels of COS and OE. Work closely with other GCS teams and key stakeholders across the enterprise inclusive of GCS Strategy Planning and Transformation Offices, Global Supply Management and Accounts Payable team to provide and execute recommendations for areas of improvement and collaborate with a variety of business partners and stakeholders.
Measure of the success will be error-free delivery of management information, along with the quality of analysis and data insights. Key deliverables include finding actionable insights, and continuous improvement of, valid and reliable global metrics. The role is responsible for planning and tracking OpEx for 600 colleagues and provide leadership actionable insights by analyzing the data, improve existing reporting structure, and create robust internal controls that will enable the team to deliver better quality outputs and contribute more strategically to organizational decision making.
Technical Skills:
Should have good financial knowledge, accruals, understanding of Procure to Pay cycle and problem-solving ability
A business mindset with excellent Accounting, information/data organization, analyzing historical results, making forecast and projection models to define strategies and identify opportunities
Preferred reconciliation expertise.
Excellent project management skills
Excellent command of MS Office Tolls (Excel, PowerPoint) and good knowledge of Advanced Excel
Being action oriented and organized with a focus on conflict resolution, consensus building and negotiation
Provide and execute recommendations for areas of improvement and collaborate with a variety of business partners and stakeholders
Soft Skills:
Strong in relationship building skills with ability to influence without authority across peers and leaders, at all levels, and drive successful outcomes on time
Able to produce innovative, creative, and insightful presentations to a variety of leadership levels
An initiative-taker and ability to work effectively and influence across departmental and geographic boundaries
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, make decisions quickly and balance multiple priorities simultaneously
High-level of integrity and eye for detail required for handling confidential information
Outstanding oral and written communication skills required to connect with senior management
Champion colleague engagement activities across the team, providing thought leadership and council to the broader organization
