Vice President, Global Treasury Controllership – India
Description
Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) is seeking a Vice President – Credco Controllership, Cash Controllership, Treasury Reporting and Digital Transformation & Controls. This role will be focused on providing strategic thought, execution, and transformational leadership over broad portfolio within the GTC organization. The role will encompass leading following key portfolio through a Global team of 4 B40 direct reports and an overall team size of 30 colleagues:
Receivable’s funding COE (Credco) – Lead the E2E Process of Sale / Transfer of Receivables across multiple American Express Portfolio, including Legal Entity Controllership of American Express Credit Corporation (Credco).
Treasury Reporting COE – Lead the External & Internal Reporting of the key treasury portfolio – Debt, Investments, Derivatives & Hedging and AOCI.
Cash Controllership – Lead the newly established Cash Controllership Organization with the vision to evaluate and strengthen controls and efficiency in the E2E Cash Lifecycle within finance.
Digital Transformation – Lead the Product Ownership of Key GTC technology Capabilities – Treasury Management System (TMS) and Exposure Management Platform (EMP). Additionally, also partner with Automation COE to drive automation initiatives across GTC
Control & Compliance – Lead the execution of Controls and Compliance deliverables for GTC
Principal Accountabilities
Ensuring all the Sale/ Transfer of Receivable is conducted and accounted in accordance with the Fair Value, Transfer Pricing & US GAAP norms. Lead the pricing governance through Pricing Committee.
Ensuring the financial integrity for all legal entities under purview in accordance with USGAAP including interpretation of critical accounting policies and resolution of accounting and reporting issues, and providing thought leadership
Oversee the Audits of the relevant areas and deliver periodic financial updates to various committees (Credco Board, Investment Committee)
Lead SEC, Regulatory & Legal Entity Reporting related to – Debt, Investments, Derivatives & Hedging and AOCI, including treasury FAB preparation and providing Sub-Certification to the AXP Treasurer.
Stay connected with multiple business partners to understand key business events and related impact on the reporting of Debt, Investments, Derivatives & Hedging and AOCI
Partner with Operational Excellence and Treasury to evaluate and strengthen controls in the E2E Cash Life Cycle.
Governance of controls encompassing Cash Lifecycle ensuring accurate Reporting
Provide advisory to business partners related to impact of business initiatives on cash processes
As GTC Product owner for Treasury Management System Platform, a critical platform for both daily operations and quarterly SEC/Regulatory filings, develop and maintain strategic platform roadmap, execution of initiatives against roadmap, leading production support as well as continuing to invest and redefine the strategic relationship with the third-party vendor (FIS).
Understand the business process objectives, GTC process needs, technology landscape and identify opportunity areas to leverage existing capabilities and develop new solutions.
Lead the Tech Development of Exposure Management Platform as the Product Owner, ensuring that the Scrum Teams are fully leveraged
Lead automation and digitization of processes across GTC.
Lead the execution of Controls and Compliance deliverables for GTC, as well as ensure that all digital transformation meets compliance, audit and legal requirements
Collaboration with key stakeholders in Controllership (LE Controllers, GFO, COEs, GAPA, SEG), Finance (Tax, Treasury) and beyond (GCO, AET).
Oversee the hiring, development, and engagement of B40, B35, B30 and B28 colleagues, providing consistent leadership, timely communication, and recognition to drive a high performing team.
Participate in key leadership forums as required (India FCC, Controllership Management Team)
Minimum Qualifications
Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or US CPA).
14 years Finance, Accounting, Reporting & Digital Transformation experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, specifically in the domain of Liquidity, Funding & Derivatives
Ability to provide strategic thought leadership in complex scenarios, determine an appropriate solution and drive it through to implementation.
Solid understanding of Emerging Technology landscape for Treasury & Treasury Controllership
Experience in managing the Technology platform build through the Agile Framework and third-party technology vendor relationships
Strong technical accounting background and experience in accounting, reporting and statutory audit.
Proven ability to drive desired outcomes in situations where there is significant ambiguity.
Able to challenge status quo & effectively communicate to leadership, auditors, and regulators
Strong relationship building skills and ability to influence without direct control
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
