The drugs for neglected diseases initiative (dnd i) is an international, not-for-profit research and development (r&d) organization that develops and delivers new treatments for neglected diseases that affect millions of the world’s poorest people.

Dnd i south-asia regional office in india was established in 2004An integral part of dnd i ’s global network, it mobilizes and supports indian research and science institutions to develop an end-to-end approach to neglected diseases r&dDnd i aims to co-create sustainable solutions with indian partners while sharing expertise with the indian biotechnology industry and ensuring access for patients and public healthIt supports the implementation of r&d projects on visceral leishmaniasis, hepatitis c, filariasis, pediatric hiv, dengue, and antimicrobial resistance.
The dnd i strategy and operations department manages the dnd i corporate infrastructure globally (finance; human resources; information systems and technology; legal affairs; alliance management, business development, procurement, monitoring and evaluation, and facilities) across its 8 locationsThe department plays a central role in dnd i ’s compliance and performance and is the custodian of its strategic plan, its ist strategy, people strategy, diversity equity and inclusion strategy, and code of conduct.
Purpose of the position
The senior finance officer will be a key person responsible for accounts payables as part of the finance hub project for global team, including genevaThe senior finance officer will ensure that daily finance and accounting activities are maintained with a high-quality standard and that invoices are registered in the erp system and paid on a timely basisThe senior finance officer will contribute to the closing of accounts and preparation of the annual statutory and donor auditsThe senior finance officer will also be in charge of the preparation of bank reconciliations and other accounting activities as the need may arise.
Specific job responsibilities
Support to geneva office (75-80%)
Accounts payable
Receive and verify invoices: bank details on the invoice in accordance with the contractual bank details, existence of a contract, in line with the budget, request removal of vat for swiss based vendors and suppliers,
Register the invoices in navision on a daily basis with the posting date (date of service), gl account(s), description following the who/what/where/when rule, project code.
Assign electronically approvers for the validation of the invoices according to the signature policySend to the correct budget managers or/and holders for validation of invoice and project codesFollow up on invoices pending approval and ensures invoices are returned promptly duly signed according to the signature policy
Follow-up on invoices put on hold by the budget managers or/and holders
Creation of the vendors, regular review and maintenance of the vendor database following icm rules
Perform checks at least annually that the same vendor is not registered more than once in the database
Check for any inconsistencies in the vendor posting groups
Active participation in digitalization and other ist projects related to finance
Po (purchase order) project: testing, implementation and training phases followed by regular maintenance of the po databaseRegular control of the database to ensure that it reflects the contractual terms and schedules and the payment progressEnsure that all invoices paid are linked to the initial po
Actively participate in all accounting ist and navision developments
Payments
Prepares payments via intl global currency for transfers in exotic currencies (e.gInr, gnf, kes, thb, brl, myr)
Responds to ad-hoc requests from employees and suppliers related to payments
Sends confirmations of payment upon request
Follows up and investigates with the bank if payments are returned
Participation in the annual closing of dnd i ’s accounts
Active support in the mid-year closing and year-end closing based on the task list provided
Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (payables, accruals) as per closing task list
Support to south asia regional offices (20-25%)
Act as a back-up for activities of the regional office, including payments and accounting support
Drive special projects under supervision of head of operations
Support the local finance team in month and year end accounting or all indian entities
Implementation of digitalization (continia) in the indian office
Additional /specific/projects responsibilities
Senior finance officer may be involved in other tasks or projects when needed (e.g., implementation of various it tools, support in the update of the ics)
May supervise the work of levels 1 and 2 or train or brief colleagues in the area of specializationSpecialist or lead worker
