Primarily responsible for product design in mechanical engineering domain at eMobility EIIC Pune, for electric vehicles application to meet technical, cost and market related technology requirement and timely launch of the product. The Lead Engineer will also be responsible for the development of technical capabilities drive synergies with eMobility divisions and world class intellectual capacity inline with the global automotive standards and requirements. Incumbent will work clsoely with global teams to identify opportunities for new technology, new products introductions of our products for performance and durability, plan for enhancements and leverage digital capabilities to keep us ahead of our competition. It is also required to consistently look for opportunities for adoption of new technology considering the market & technology trends of product innovation & intelligent products in EV platforms & applications.
Provides technical leadership to a team of 510 highly skilled enginers to meet its short and long term goals. Drive alignment and collaboration with Global eMobility engineering leadership. Provide leadership in executing the strategic and operational plans to achieve measurable outputs in terms of New Product Launches, Cost outs, Sustaining Engineering and Intellectual Property generation. Lead development of Products containing complex mechanical systems, electronics, electrical and thermal management needs. Customer facing responsibilities: Represent Eaton at various OEMs and take accountability of product development, application engineering and support of Eaton products.
Qualifications
Develop value added technical solutions for eMobility products based upon a broad technical knowledge and awareness of customer needs in Region and Global.
• Provide engineering leadership for preparation of global technology and product roadmaps based on market and technology trends.
• Provide engineering leadership support for maturity of CTQ’s in different phase of product development
• Validate integrity and or accuracy of output to the project requirements
• Build and maintain relationships with eMobility North America, global CoE, external customers, suppliers,and other functional groups
• Mentor, organize, lead, and champion projects leveraging CFT and CoE resources
• Capturing customer voice, Planning milestones, Executing milestones, Conducting technical and project Reviews, Communication and On job development through technical mentoring to project team
• Utilizes DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for new product development &/or existing product improvements
• Creates, and sustains process for design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control for the associated business group
• Drives PROLaunch execution for NPI programs with work package approvals, engineering management plan and attaining all engineering deliverables per activity matrix
• Utilizes understanding of manufacturing processes to improve new and existing designs & acts as a technical lead for internal / external customers and resolves technical challenges
• Evaluates product performance and life expectations through engineering calculations. Leverage analytical techniques viz. Structural, Vibration, thermal and Plant Modelling from other departments.
• Drives innovation on new product development using appropriate tools and techniques such as DFSS, DFR, DMAIC, etc.
