Job Description
Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.
Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Everyone here is a software engineer. As the leader of the team responsible for platform reliability your first task is to build a team of software engineers who are obsessed with enabling sustainable, resilient, and reliable SaaS platforms.
Your experience building high performing engineering teams will be essential to establish a platform reliability capability based on a software engineering mindset as opposed to a systems administration or support approach.
Your hands on technical knowledge demonstrated by experience in high scale systems will be critical as you establish, recruit, mentor and grow a software engineering team.
As an experienced engineering leader, you can identify opportunities for strategic advancement while also dealing with the day-to-day escalations and support requirements.
The SRE team gets engaged when front-line support teams are unable to resolve issues. They are the conduit between our support teams and engineering teams.
YOU ARE SKILLED
To land this job you will demonstrate expertise in at least some of the following areas:
Building teams and establishing mission critical platform reliability capabilities
Leading software development teams, managing and growing critical talent
Understanding of Devops, pipelines and automation
Networking, network security or identity management
Experience in a software product company and ideally a cloud-based software product
Understanding cloud infrastructure and container orchestration

QUALIFICATIONS
You are required to have:
3-4 years of experience leading platform reliability, site reliability or similar capabilities
Experience establishing teams from the ground-up to support high volume, mission critical SaaS platforms
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure
Familiarity with Linux, Docker, Jenkins and Git
You are expected to:
Lead the definition of a multi-year capability roadmap for Platform Reliability with a view of achieving class leading reliability to achieve Oracle business outcomes
Build an operating model for Platform Reliability and manage its evolution as aligned to the long-term product roadmaps
Hire and manage a team of engineers who work in allocated shifts to respond to customer support issues that cannot be resolved by front-line support
Manage, troubleshoot, and resolve customer incidents by providing a resolution path or by engaging engineering teams
Work closely with incident managers, customers, front-line support teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure a fast resolution and customer experience.
Optimize multiple and sometimes contradictory priorities to deliver operational efficiency to realize margin and profitability objectives for a rapidly scaling SaaS platforms
