Within Trading & Supply (T&S), CP Lead is at the centre of every commercial decision we make. CP powers the business of Shell, it’s Shell’s Commercial Powerhouse, Delivering the Industry’s Most Competitive Supply Chain.
CP Lead India / CP Lead UAE role is responsible for managing all commercial side of Supply Chain. Scope mainly covers managing strategic contracts spread across logistics category (Road Transport, 3rd party terminal / Infra leasing, Warehousing etc) and engineering category. As a CP Lead, you play an important frontline role by leading and managing all CP activities for T&S India and Shell DS UAE. Given High Risk external environment, you are expected to be a compliance leader by demonstrating razor sharp focus on ensuring required compliance adherence from all 3rd party business partners towards HSSE (safety) and E&C (Ethics and Compliance) standards – while ensuring that all other required due diligence as per Shell norms are carried out for all the spend.
CP Lead also supports exciting other businesses in India / UAE which are Shell Chemicals & Products / Shell Energy (Renewables & Energy Solutions) / Sector & Decarbonization.
What’s the role?
As a key frontline leader of T&S CP organization, you will lead, contribute, collaborate, and deliver end to end CP activities in accordance with World Class Contracting & Procurement Policies with your skills around commercial delivery, Strategy & Business Development, Deal making and negotiations, Project Management etc. for scope listed above. All of this is done in a complex environment in a safe, compliant, agile and in cost-efficient manner.
As CP lead, you play a pivotal role in minimizing risks & costs while expected to extract maximum value from both the contract, and the relationship you will manage with business partners in India / UAE while contributing to the achievement of Enterprise Value Contributions for the following:
Shareholder Improvement: Cost Improvement Delivery – Delivering Cash to the Business Bottom Line (BLI) and Cost Competitiveness.
Deliver Aspiration Projects; Business Development / Capital Projects- Strategic Projects delivered on plan / budget – Flawless Delivery of Strategic Projects on time and budget.
Powering Lives – Supplier Diversity Increase Supplier Diversity/ Local Content, Supplier Pool, Digital Technological, Innovation, improve adaptability, speed to market, simplification etc.
Net Zero Emission – CO2 Reduction -Focused sourcing to make a difference in sustainability (incorporating NZE into sourcing and go to market strategies): Supporting planned Scope 1,2,3 NZE initiatives.
In this role, you will have an exciting opportunity to lead engagements with senior business leaders in Shell and in the industry in managing expectations and work as a Trusted Advisor. You also have an opportunity to lead from front and have conversations with strategic partners in Supply Chain and Logistics Industry in India and Middle East along with their global counterpart.
What we need from you
Engineering Graduate/MBA with 10 to 12 years of experience in Strategy & Planning / Commercial Delivery / Supply Chain / Business Development / Strategic Sourcing / Contracting & Procurement of Services / Logistics. MCIPS qualification is desired but not a must.
Proven track record / experience in deal making, negotiation, contracting, execution excellence & delivering results & project management experience involving large number of key stakeholders.
Exposure to developing and managing suppliers/business partners, delivering results, complex high-risk projects, execution excellence, strong sourcing capability, managing change and strong customer focus by bringing forth necessary commercial curiosity, innovative approach to CP activities through a process of constructive challenge and support.
Ability of maintaining and managing great relationship with business; Ability to identify risks and finding creative solutions thereto within acceptable process, compliance, and risk frameworks.
Strong business acumen including analytics skills, market surveys, benchmarking to analyse complex cost models and data. Basic understanding in finance will help to spot new value opportunities.
Be positive and proactive with ability to quickly learn and apply quickly, think fast on the ground. Strong skills in influencing and working through others. Enthusiastic, self-starter and strong team player. You must be a natural collaborator – someone who can cultivate strong professional networks and operate effectively in a corporate, team-focused environment. You should be accomplished at bringing out the best in others too, whether that’s supporting and coaching others or influencing and negotiating with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Willingness and ability to tactfully challenge current ways of working, and to learn externally what opportunities exist for improvement, Able to demonstrate strong commerciality and ability to think strategically across entire value chain to capture the Enterprise-wide value and constantly looking for new value opportunities, bold & ready to embrace change when the occasion calls for it.
Obtain excellent understanding of CP and challenges and that you have the ability to identify the risks and opportunities. As well as being able to quickly grasp technical detail, working directly with experts in their field, it’s vital that you have the all-round communication skills to translate that information into language that’s readily understood by non-technical clients and colleagues.
Mastery level desired for Stakeholder Management, Business Partnering, Deal Making & Negotiation, Analyse Markets & Cost Models, Supplier & Contract Management and Learner Mindset. Skill level is desired for Integrated Category and Sourcing Strategy, CP Process & Systems and for Digital Literacy. Knowledge of managing e2e procurement in ERP (SAP) / SAP Ariba is an added advantage.
