Position: R&D Pakistan Foods Lead
Location: Karachi HO
Background & Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the R&D Foods Lead will be to support Unilever Pakistan’s Foods & Nutrition brands through category design and deploy activities in the country and will be leading challenging Foods and Nutrition Innovation, superiority, 5S Agenda backed by cost transformation. This will involve working with R&D teams, Procurement, Marketing, Brand and Supply Chain, both locally and regionally, as well as external stakeholders such as regulators, suppliers, co-packers.
JOB PURPOSE
The individual with the right profile for this role:
Partner with Foods CCBT and carry out a holistic end-to-end product & packaging design and deploy role, working in all aspects of product development, from lab formulation design to supporting scale up for manufacturing, claims, packaging. Lead and coordinate for product & packaging development projects Evaluate and resolve technical feasibility for upcoming innovation, renovation, and cost optimization projects. Works around design optimization and production issues. Coordinate with other departments to establish a design, technology, and vendor strategy. Manage R&D team members on day-to-day bases to monitor progress on the projects. Manage projects and department milestones and ensures project timelines are met. Ensure and maintain product superiority vs key competition. Scan regulatory landscape and ensure compliance of Unilever Pakistan’s F&R products. Drawing up own activity plans and plans for formulation technicians to match project requirements. Training of other individuals on formulation technologies, instruments, and control systems, if required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Passion for Foods development and creative thinking. Relevant experience in formulation and/or processing development. Skilled and comfortable working in a digital environment Ability to respond quickly to change in priorities and volatile market You will need to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex engineering and design principles across different functions and ensure timely execution of network activities.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Min Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Food technology or relevant.
Minimum 6 – 8 years’ experience, 3 to 4 years being in Foods Technology is a must.
Proficient in Microsoft office packages (Excel, Word, Power point)
Time management skills to coordinate multiple work streams.
Make and QA experience will be an added advantage.
Ability to work Under pressure and stretching agenda.
Agility in managing projects and teams internally & externally.
